Major : Weaving
Concept of my thesis is to depict sustainable approaches through using denim leftovers to create new woven materials. Denim is one of the most commonly used fabric in the retail world and daily a lot of denim yarn and fabric is left unused during manufacturing process. I have created fabrics by exploring possibilities with innovative patterns using these left overs i.e. yarn and fabric. The world came to a standstill during the pandemic, conversations revolved around ecological impact of textiles. Which is why I thought of using denim to create a fabric from its leftovers, utilizing these precious pieces successfully, which otherwise are dumped in landfills and go unutilized. My inspiration comes from my surroundings and the geometry, texture and pattern I see in them. These have been a constant through the confinement during the pandemic.
