DHOOP CHAON
Major : Weaving
As a weaving major, for my thesis, I have decided to work with the age-old craft of Mashru. Mashru is a handwoven fabric made of silk warp and cotton weft with bright contrasting stripes in vibrant colors. Contrary to its traditional bright color palette I have decided to work with shades of whites to give mashru a new look. I have chosen to work with sea shells from my vicinity as a source of inspiration for color and composition. Shades and tones of whites in my samples remind me of the scenes of light and shadow in the Sun. That is why I decided to work with a theme of Dhoop and Chaon for my collection.
