Research

Surveys were conducted in order to know about statistics and popular apps among tweens these days.

Dissection of the game LEGO Friends Heartlake Rush.

Dissection of the game Panda Pop.

Dissection of the game Hide N Seek.

To come up with the circulation and zoning of the space, spatial analysis of all three games was done. In Hide N seek the element of maze is destroyed by showing the entire layout to the person who is playing the game and the notion of walking is present. In Panda pop the panda is stationary in one position and aiming in different direction so the notion of standing is present. And in LEGO friends, the notion of driving is present.

Considerations for site and building shell criteria.

Site and Site analysis.

Programmatic analysis and the division of the games in the space. Division of the games is done in a way that there are multiple meeting points in between all the games so that a child can experience all the games together without pausing, which is not possible in the virtual space.

The concentric geometry was taken out from the games itself and specifically circle was used, as circle as a shape has no end point just as the creativity and imagination of a child.

The Loft space was added with supporting columns and beams. On the loft Lego friends is present where from the beginning a child gets to chose a car which he wants to drive based on the sense of touch and his comfort as well, whereas in the virtual world a child makes choices based on color only.

The height and the thickness of the walls is varying throughout, ranging from 3’-0” to 6’-6” and 0’-8” to 0’-18” to give the sense of scale and proportion. The walls are cladded with foam so that the space is space for children. Tunnels and openings were created through the walls, to let the child decide where he wants to go and to make him find out unpredictable elements through the openings.

Mirror cladding was done on the ceiling at multiples instances so that it creates an illusion and a child gets to see a different space through the ceiling which would increase the sense of curiosity. Sensor based confetti diffusers were installed to create the sense of joy and accomplishment when one level of the game is completed.
